as good as GAS gets...
recently an old interest has been creeping into my lifestyle - photography. i have always been fascinated with the way a simple scene can be interpreted in a thousand ways, merely by capturing and embedding it on paper. back in the days where there's only film, it wasn't easy to pursue this hobby. i can only imagine the rolls of film - wasted because i didn't get the exposure right or my focus wasn't spot on.. blah blah blah... there wasn't even photoshop back then. so i had to put off the idea.. mainly for financial reasons... and besides, my first film slr was stolen so it may have been a sign not to pursue it.along came digital.. yes!!! i thought this was a good time to pick up the camera and start shooting great pics(with the help of image editors.. almost every shot is a good one!) yet again, the ever faithful quote stares me right in the eye - "better gear, better results!".. wtf!!! now that i have an entry level cam everything is pointing to better upgrades and more often, expensive ones. GAS, GAS, and more GAS!!!!
i have always believed that expensive equipment can do wonders but i also know that we all have to make do with what we have. having expensive gear doesn't necessarily mean that you'll be a great musician or a photographer without putting in much effort. it takes a lot of time.. if we just practice hard enough.
when people admire a picture in a gallery, no one ever asks about the tools used to paint it. instead, they ask about the painter, his technique.
i may sound like i'm sourgraping our opinions may differ.. but to me, it's just the way it is.
